Terms of Service

By using Joint Journey, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

1. About the Service

Joint Journey (jointjourney.org) is a digital prehabilitation programme designed to help people preparing for hip or knee replacement surgery. It provides exercise programmes, nutritional guidance, mental wellbeing support, and practical preparation advice.

The service is operated from the United Kingdom and is primarily intended for UK-based users, though it is accessible worldwide.

2. Not Medical Advice

Joint Journey is an educational and support tool only. It is not a medical device, and it does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

The content has been developed with reference to published clinical guidelines and evidence-based resources, but it has not been personalised to your individual medical circumstances.

You must always follow the advice of your surgeon, GP, physiotherapist, and other healthcare professionals. If there is any conflict between the information in Joint Journey and the advice of your healthcare team, always follow your healthcare team.

For full details, please read our Medical Disclaimer.

3. Who Can Use the Service

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use Joint Journey
  • You should be on a waiting list for, or considering, hip or knee replacement surgery
  • You must provide accurate information when creating your account
  • You are responsible for keeping your login details secure

4. Your Responsibilities

By using Joint Journey, you agree to:

  • Consult your GP before starting the exercise programme, particularly if you have other health conditions (heart disease, respiratory problems, balance disorders, etc.)
  • Stop exercising immediately if you experience sharp pain, dizziness, chest pain, or any concerning symptoms - and seek medical advice
  • Use common sense - exercise in a safe environment, wear appropriate footwear, and use support (e.g., holding the worktop) as instructed
  • Not rely solely on Joint Journey for your pre-surgical preparation - it is a supplement to, not a replacement for, professional healthcare
  • Provide accurate information about your weight, joint type, and other profile details
  • Not share your account with others or use another person's account

5. Exercise & Health Content

The exercise programmes, nutritional guidance, and mindset content are designed to be safe for most people awaiting joint replacement surgery. However:

  • Individual results will vary
  • The exercises may not be suitable for everyone - especially if you have additional health conditions
  • Calorie counts, protein values, and nutritional information are estimates and should not be relied upon for clinical dietary management
  • The mindset modules are supportive in nature and are not a substitute for professional mental health treatment
